But there’s definitely a right time and place for these moments. For example, if you spot your favorite actor in a restaurant mid-bite, maybe hold off on that selfie request. And if they’re in the bathroom? Definitely not the time.
Talking about the challenges of fame, the Marriage Story actress shared her thoughts with InStyle: “The thing about being a public figure is that the idea of being recognizable and celebrated feels fun, but then you can never stuff it back in the bottle.”
“The reality of it is, there’s a massive loss to that, you know?”

Explaining her stance, she said: “It really offends a lot of people. It doesn’t mean I’m not appreciative, of course, that people are fans, or happy to see me.”
“But I always say to people, ‘I’m not working.’ [And that means] I don’t want to be identified as being in this time and place with you. I’m doing my own thing.”
Johansson’s comments come shortly after she and her husband, Saturday Night Live comedian Colin Jost, made headlines for an unexpected reason back in December.
Jost, who co-hosts SNL’s famous ‘Weekend Update’ segment alongside Michael Che, is known for his sharp sense of humor. He and Che regularly take playful jabs at each other, swapping jokes that sometimes land one of them in the hot seat.

She was in the audience when he dropped a particularly bold punchline, and her reaction—captured on camera—quickly went viral.
“I want to dedicate this next joke to my boo, Scarlett Johansson,” Jost quipped at the time.
Taking the joke even further, he made a cheeky comment about their married life, especially after Johansson gave birth to their son, Cosmo, in 2021.
The camera immediately cut to Johansson, who was seen mouthing “Oh my god” in response to the unexpected joke.
The moment quickly made waves online, with fans loving her unfiltered reaction.
