President Donald Trump has made a bold patriotic statement by displaying a framed copy of the Declaration of Independence in the Oval Office, according to photos he shared on social media.

In images posted to his official X account, Trump revealed the historic document prominently placed on the wall near his desk. One picture shows him carefully pulling back dark blue curtains surrounding the frame, taking a closer look at the treasured piece of American history.

While the exact origin of the copy remains unclear, the White House confirmed that the National Archives provided the document at the president’s request.

“The National Archives delivered the Declaration of Independence to the White House at the President’s request. It now hangs in the Oval Office where it will be carefully protected and preserved,” said White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt in a statement.

The original Declaration, which dates back to 1776, is famously housed at the National Archives and has faded over time. However, the version now displayed in the Oval Office appears to be crisp and legible, according to the images released.

Neither the White House nor the National Archives immediately responded to questions regarding the specific version of the document now hanging in the president’s office. Trump’s social media post offered no further details beyond the simple caption: “The Declaration of Independence in the Oval Office.”

This addition to the White House decor aligns with Trump’s broader effort to emphasize American history and patriotism during his time in office. It joins several other notable pieces of decor he has chosen, including a portrait of President Andrew Jackson, a painting of George Washington positioned above the fireplace, and a bust of Winston Churchill.

Trump’s personal touch on the Oval Office isn’t limited to historical artifacts. According to The Wall Street Journal, he has also reinstalled the famous button on his desk that he uses to summon a Diet Coke—something that became a lighthearted topic of discussion during his first term.

The decision to place the Declaration of Independence in the heart of the White House is already drawing attention from both supporters and critics. Many see it as a reaffirmation of the nation’s founding principles, while others speculate about the timing and motivation behind the display.

Regardless, Trump’s move sends a clear message: the values enshrined in the Declaration—life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness—remain at the core of his vision for America.
